RTS Series Installation Manual

There are four types of installations for the RTS series. Below are the different options easily described, step by step, for a smooth and correct installation.

Please choose installation type from below:

Choose the mounting option according to the ceiling type; for drywall or a concrete ceiling, choose J-Box installation or Acoustic for T-bar ceilings like Armstrong.

Acoustic Ceiling installation options

Acoustic ceiling installation with T-clip

A: Aircraft cable 16ft; B: Aircraft cable caps; C: Gripper; D: Mounting brackets and bracket pins; E: Cable bushing; F: J-Box Canopies; G: T clips with extra security; H: Standard T clips; I: Large hanger bolts; J: Standard hanger bolts

Step 1 - Getting ready

Prior to installation, make sure nothing is missing from the list above; the electrical power is off, and necessary tools are handy.

Step 2(a) - Preparing the standard T clip

Insert a holder bolt into each standard T clip, choose the correct length of the two options, for your installation.

Step 2(b) - Preparing secured T clip

Insert a holder bolt into each secured T clip (RECOMMENDED), choose the correct length of the two options, for your installation.

Step 3 - securing the mounting brackets

Attach the mounting bracket at the desired location alongside the backtrack of the fixture and secure it with the bracket pin.

Step 4 - Preparing Suspension

Attach the aircraft cables to the mounting brackets, on the RTS fixture, and screw the gripper in the center hole all the way in. Make sure it' in all the way, tight and secure.

Step 5 - Taking Measurements

Measure the length between the mounting brackets. This will give you the measurements for the placements of the T-clips.

Step 6 - Attaching the T clips

Attach the clips to the ceiling’s marked spots with the correct measurements from step 4.

Step 7 - Connecting it all together

Insert the cable bushing into the canopy - run the cable through the canopy, into the ceiling, and run it to the nearest J-box.

Step 8 - Securing the Canopy

Cover T clip with canopy, so T clip bolt sticks out. Attach the aircraft cable cap to the T clip bolt.

Step 9 - Adjusting the height and level

Push the aircraft cable into the gripper on the mounting bracket to adjust the desirable length, making sure the lighting fixture is level.

Step 10 - Complete installation

When the desired height of the fixture is secured, cut the excess aircraft cable.

Surface mount - Limited installation option

A: Aircraft cable 16ft; B: Aircraft cable caps; C: Grippers; D: Mounting brackets and bracket pins; E: Cable bushing; F: J-box Canopies; G: T-Support

Step 1 - Getting ready

Prior to installation, make sure nothing is missing from the list above; the electrical power is off, and necessary tools are handy.

Step 2 - Attaching the brackets

Attach the mounting brackets on the desirable position alongside the back of the fixture and secure them with the brackets pins.

Step 3 - preparing the suspension

Attach the aircraft cables to the mounting brackets by screwing the gripper in the center hole of the bracket.

Step 4 - Measuring the distance

Measure the length in between the mounting brackets. This will give you the distance for the placements of the T-support bar on the grid.

Step 5 - Determining the location

Determine the desired location for the fixture under the drop ceiling in between the grids

Step 6 - Placing the t-support

Snap the t support on the grid and secure it with the screw. Make sure the t support sits firmly on the grid before screws fastening.

Step 7 - Placing a tile

Bring the tile to the t-support and mark the spot for hanger bolt. Pierce through the tile at the marked spot. Make sure it's wide enough for the hanger bolt to come through. Place the ceiling tile.

Step 8 - Assembling the canopy

Insert the cable bushing into the canopy - run the cable through the canopy, into the ceiling, and run it to the nearest J-box.

Step 9 - Attaching the aircraft cable

Insert canopy plate through the hanger bolt tight to a ceiling panel and screw the aircraft cable cap on it.

Step 10 - Adjusting the heights

Push the aircraft cable into the gripper on the mounting bracket to adjust the desirable length, making sure the lighting fixture is leveled.

Step 11 - Complete installation

When the desired height of the fixture is secured, cut the excess aircraft cable.

J-BOX installation (Suspended or Surface mounted) options

RTS Pendant. J-box installation

Two preinstalled octagon shape j-boxes or j-box with round cover recommended for the proper and clean installation.

A: j-box cover plate; B: mounting plates; C: hanger bolts; D: cable retainer; E: cable bushing; F: mounting brackets; G: bracket pins; H: aircraft cable caps; I: grippers; J: aircraft cable 16ft

Step 1 - Getting ready

Prior to installation, make sure nothing is missing from the list above; the electrical power is off, and necessary tools are handy.

Step 2 - Preparing the mounting plates

Insert the hanger bolt into the cable retainer, and screw it through the mounting plate.
Fit the cable bushing on the canopy plate with the power feed opening.

Step 3 - Taking measurements

Measure the desired height from the fixture to the ceiling. The aircraft and power feed cables are 16 ft long and the fixture can be placed within that distance.

Step 4 - Securing the cable

Pull the feeding cable through the cable bushing and the mounting plate. Secure at least 6 inches of the line on the mounting plate in the cable retainer using two small screws.

Step 5 - Wiring

Connect the feeding cable wires accordingly to the preinstalled electrical wires inside the J-box.

Step 6 - Secure mounting plate

Fasten the mounting plate to the J-box with provided screws.

Step 7 - placing the canopy

Insert the canopy cover plate through the hanger bolt and securely place it on the j-box.

Step 8 - Suspend

Attach the aircraft cable by screwing the cable cap onto the hanger bolt.

Step 9 - securing the mounting brackets

Attach the mounting bracket at the desired location alongside the backtrack of the fixture and secure it with the bracket pin.

Step 10 - attaching the aircraft cable

Screw the gripper in the center hole of the bracket, all the way in. Make sure it’s in all the way, tight and secure. Push the aircraft cable in to adjust the desirable length, ensuring that the fixture is level.

Step 11 - Final Adjustments

Ensure that the fixture is level, cut and discard unnecessary length of aircraft cable. Clean the fixture. The installation is complete.

Surface mount - Limited installation option

You only need the brackets and bracket pins from the kit provided.

Step 1 - Getting ready

Prior to installation, make sure nothing is missing from the list above; the electrical power is off, and necessary tools are handy.

Step 2 - Ceiling Measurements

Measure and mark the desirable distance for mounting clips on the ceiling. The distance is fully adjustable within the fixture's length.

Step 3 - Mounting clips

Mount each clip on the ceiling with the screws using all three holes for the most secured installation. Insert the secure pin into the side hole but don't fasten it all the way in just yet.

Step 4 - Wiring

Run the wire through the mounting surface to your j-box location. Please note that this is a limited mounting option and we require you to check your local code for the proper wiring connection.

Step 5 - Placing the fixture

Snap the fixture into mounting clips.

Step 6 - Fixing in place

Adjust the location by sliding in brackets, fasten the mounting clips in all the way

Step 7 - Connect wires
